Li Changchun: More researches needed on Mao Zedong's life, theory
A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has called for more research work on the life and theory of the late Chairman Mao Zedong, stressing that it is important for China to build socialism with its own characteristics.

Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, made this remark at a national symposium here Thursday in memory of the 110th anniversary of Mao's birth.

The Party should improve the study of its own history by doing more researches into Mao's life and theory, to acquire wisdom and power from Mao's ideological and spiritual heritage.

He also urged the symposium attendees to study the relations between Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of "Three Represents," which form a continuous line of inheritance.

Liu Yunshan, a member of both the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting.
