China will learn from other countries to raise its efficiency of power consumption, said Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan in his congratulation letter to the 2007 International Forum on Demand Side Management (DSM) in China on Tuesday in Beijing.
Zeng said the Chinese government is committed to developing the nation in an economy and environment-friendly way. The nation's power supply sector has achieved great progress in increasing power generating capacity and structural adjustments of power supply to meet surging demands.
The vice premier pointed out that the forum would provide a platform for China to discuss with and learn from other countries the advanced experience in power management.
The DSM is an effective and prevailing way to improve power consumption efficiency in the world, said experts. The Chinese government has attached great importance to this methodology in recent years to deal with rising demands and environmental problems caused by power generating.
The forum is co-sponsored by China's National Development and Reform Commission and Ministry of Finance in assistance with China's State Grid, Southern Power Grid and the U.S. Natural Resources Defense Council.
