Official sentenced to 10 years in jail for receiving bribes
Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court has sentenced Wang Yue, a former official of Ministry of Commerce to 10 years in prison at the second trial for receiving bribes to invest in stock market.

According to the court verdict, Wang received 100,000 yuan of bribes from a Beijing-based real estate company in 1999 when she worked in a division under the Finance Department of the former Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. She was then responsible for buying apartments for the staff of the ministry.

Wang later on entrusted others to invest part of the 100,000 yuan of illicit money into stock market.

Beijing Dongcheng District Court sentenced Wang to 10 years in prison at first trial, Wang then appealed to the Beijing No.2 Intermediate People's Court.

The Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court held that Wang, as a state officer, took advantage of her post to receive bribes and seek profits for others in return. Her wrongdoing committed the crime of bribery.

The Court upheld the ruling given at the first trial and asked to recover the 100,000 yuan of illicit money.
