Liu Yupu was elected chairman of the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress on Monday.
The election was carried out at the 5th session of the 4th Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress held here.
Liu, 59 and a native of Tai'an, Shandong Province, was appointed Secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in January. He also holds the post of deputy secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee.
His predecessor was Li Hongzhong, who was elected governor of Hubei Province at the first session of the 11th Hubei Provincial People's Congress in January.
