A drama performance was staged on Monday evening to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of China's political advisory body.
Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), watched the performance with other CPPCC leaders, leaders of non-communist parties, representatives from the business circle and those without party affiliation.
The CPPCC, the country's political advisory body, was founded in 1949 when the People's Republic of China was founded.
The performance recounted the history of how the Communist Party of China worked with fellow democratic parties to fight for the country's independence and liberation and people's welfare.
