(Xinhua/Li Xueren) Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo and visiting Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin pledged to boost bilateral ties and cooperation between the two parliaments in Beijing on Wednesday.
Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), hailed the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination, saying it was developing rapidly from a new starting point.
He applauded the frequent high-level visits, firm political mutual trust and supports to each other on major issues concerning sovereignty, security and territory integrity.
"The bilateral cooperation brought about tangible interests to the two states and the two peoples," he said.
Wu highlighted the importance of deepening the strategic partnership amid the changing international situation.
China will work along with Russia to enhance political and economic cooperation, and strengthen coordination on international affairs, he said.
The NPC will enhance cooperation with the Russian Council and State Duma, the Russian legislative body, he noted.
Putin spoke highly of the contribution made by the two governments, parliaments, parties and local authorities to the development of Russia-China ties.
The enhanced Russia-China relationship will be conducive to the development of both countries as well as the world peace and prosperity, he said.
Russia will enhance cooperation with China in such sectors as economy, trade, energy, science and technology, space and aviation, and the cooperation between their local governments, and promote cultural and social exchanges.
