Senior CPC official vows closer ties with Belgian Socialist Party
A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) pledged on Monday to boost party-to-party exchanges with the francophone Socialist Party (SP) of Belgium in a bid to promote the all-round cooperation between the two countries.

Wang Gang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the pledge when meeting with a delegation led by SP Vice President Andre Flahaut, who is also vice chairman of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives.

Hailing the fruitful bilateral cooperation in recent years, Wang said the two countries had carried out frequent exchanges among various levels and maintained sound coordination on major international issues.

Calling SP an important political force of Belgium, Wang said the party always holds positive attitude to develop relations with China, and has played an important role in the healthy and steady development of bilateral ties.

"The CPC would like to further boost exchanges and cooperation with SP, in a bid to contribute to the healthy development of bilateral friendly ties," said Wang, also vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), a political advisory body.

Flahaut told Wang his party attaches great importance to its cooperation with the CPC and he is visiting the country to cement dialogues between the two parties and inject new vitality to China's relations with Belgium as well as Europe.
