The following is the highlight of Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping's European tour on Wednesday.
Xi is on a 12-day tour to four European nations -- Russia, Belarus, Finland and Sweden.
MOSCOW -- Xi met with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, and they spoke highly of the development of bilateral ties.
Xi also met separately with two major party leaders in Russia to discuss party-to-party cooperation. The party leaders were Chairman of the Communist Party of Russia Gennady Zyuganov and Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
MINSK -- Xi arrived in Belarus for an official visit after concluding his tour in Russia.
Xi met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. They hailed the healthy and steady development of Sino-Belarusian relations and agreed to strengthen ties.
Xi is expected to meet with Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko, and Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Boris Batura.
Later, the Chinese vice president will travel to Helsinki to start his visit to Finland, the third leg of his European tour.
