Senior Chinese Communist Party official Li Changchun said in Istanbul on Thursday that there is a new opportunity for the development of the bilateral relations between China and Turkey.
Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC), said that China and Turkey have made lots of achievements in the bilateral relations in the past four decades since establishment of diplomatic relations.
"Now the bilateral relations become mature and stable," said Li when he addressed heads of Turkish media in Istanbul.
He said the powerful driving force for the bilateral relations comes from the economic and trade cooperation and mutual benefits as well as win-win approach by the two countries.
He urged the media of the two countries to play a part to promote friendship and mutual cooperation of the two countries.
The Chinese official said, both Chinese and Turkish media should serve as a bridge of information to achieve better understanding of the people between the two countries and deepen their friendship.
Li, who arrived here on Wednesday on an official goodwill visit to Turkey, said that media should take the social responsibility and lead the people to understand the opposite country in an objective and reasonable way.
The Chinese official expressed his hope that the media will do its part to create a fine public opinion environment for the steady development of the bilateral relations.
Li Changchun urged media of the two countries to strengthen cooperation and exchanges to promote dialogue and harmonious coexistence.
"The media should give better coverage to achievements of mutual benefits and win-win between the countries," he added.
