Algerian party chief meets CPC delegation
General Secretary of Algeria's National Liberation Front Party (FLN) Abdelaziz Belkadem met Monday with a visiting delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC), discussing ways to deepen cooperation between the parties of both countries.

Belkadem firstly expressed condolences over the recent devastating earthquake in China's Qinghai province, which caused severe casualties and damages.

The FLN shares traditional friendship with CPC and hopes to deepen ties and raise the level of exchanges between the two parties, the FLN chief told Head of the CPC delegation Chen Jianguo, who is secretary of the CPC Ningxia Hui Autonomous Regional Committee.

Belkadem stressed that Algeria supports China's efforts to safeguard territorial integrity and realize national reunification, and this stance "has never changed since Algeria gained independence."

Chen expressed appreciation of Belkadem's condolences and conveyed the greetings of CPC leaders to the leaders of FLN.

He hailed that the relationship between China and Algeria has been developing since the establishment of diplomatic ties more than 50 years ago, despite what changes that have taken place in international situation.

He said China-Algeria cooperation has become a model of South- South Cooperation, adding the two sides share extensive consensus, such as on UN reform, human rights and anti-terrorism.

China appreciated Algeria's adherence to the one-China policy and support on the issues of Taiwan, Tibet and human rights, said Chen, adding the CPC attaches great importance to the friendly ties with FLN and is ready to further enhance exchanges and cooperation with FLN.

Chen and his delegation members, who arrived here on Sunday for a goodwill visit, have met with some other political parties of Algeria, including the Movement of Society for Peace and the National Rally for Democracy.
