A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Saturday stressed the importance of trade cooperation between China and Italy at the local level.
"The Chinese party and government have always given support to mutually beneficial cooperation at the local level between the two countries, and believe such cooperation would make new achievements through joint efforts," said He Guoqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
During a meeting with Enrico Rossi, chief of the Tuscany Region of Italy, He said bilateral cooperation at the local level was an important avenue toward promoting state-to-state relations.
He Guoqiang, also secretary of the CPC's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, said the Tuscany Region boasts a well-developed economy and services system, and China can also draw on the techniques and management experience from local enterprises.
"The two sides have great potential for further trade cooperation," he said.
The current Sino-Italian relations have maintained a good momentum for development, especially for trade cooperation, He Guoqiang said, hoping that the two governments would create better conditions for boosting bilateral trade.
Rossi said he welcomes Chinese enterprises to make investments in the Tuscany Region.
More than 20 local entrepreneurs were present during the meeting.
He Guoqiang arrived here on Saturday for an official good-will visit to Italy, the first leg of his five-nation tour which also takes him to Iceland, Norway, Lithuania and Turkmenistan.Source: Xinhua http://paper.people.com.cn/rmrb/html/2010-06/07/nw.D110000renmrb_20100607_5-01.htm?div=-1
