China has gained remarkable achievements during the past 30 years of opening up and reform, which have contributed to the development of other countries, an Egyptian official said.
Ahmed Wali, vice-chairman of the Egypt-China Friendship Association (ECFA), said in a recent interview with Xinhua that he did not agree with some western countries which doubt the success of China's development.
There are some problems in China's development but Chinese leaders are aware of the problems and are trying to solve them, he said.
He defended China's developing model and refuted claims that China's development will have a negative impact upon other countries.
"That is not true. China's development contributes to the development of other countries," Wali said. "Perhaps only some developed countries are worried about China's development."
The reform and opening-up policy launched about 30 years ago has contributed a lot to China's fast economic growth.
As for China's role in the Middle East peace process, Wali said he appreciated China's support to the Palestinians.
"China has a peace envoy to the Middle East who trying to help solve conflicts in this region," he said.
However, he hoped that China could put more efforts in facilitating the peace process and enhancing cooperation with the Arab countries, especially Egypt.
"China is not an aggressive country. Even in history China built the Great Wall for self-defense instead of attacking others, " Wali said.
"China is doing its best to communicate and cooperate with other nations through mutual interests. However, China has never used such help and cooperation to impose any kind of political control upon others," he added.
"China is a big and responsible country," Wali said, adding that he highly appreciated China's call for the building of a harmonious world.
