The Chinese military is keen on having good exchange with its Venezuelan counterpart, a senior Chinese general said Sunday.
Chen Bingde, chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China, made the comments after he and a group of other senior PLA officers arrived here for a three-day goodwill visit to Venezuela.
The delegation was greeted by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro and Defense Minister Carlos Mata Figueroa at the airport.
In a brief talk with Chen, Maduro said Venezuela has always admired China's splendid history and culture.
The PLA of China is a great army with both strong spirits and state-of-the-art science and technology, he said.
Chen told the hosts that Ecuador, Venezuela and Peru -- the three stops on his current South American tour, are all China's good friends.
He added that although it was his first visit to Venezuela, he was confident that the visit would be fruitful and successful.
During his stay, Chen is scheduled to meet with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, Defense Minister Maduro, as well as some army leaders. He will also visit the country's ministry of defense and a military academy.
Before arriving in Venezuela, Chen made a three-day visit to Ecuador. He will later travel to Peru.
