China will celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) "merrily" and "economically" next year, a government official said Thursday.
The anniversary will be a major event in China's political life in 2011, said Wang Chen, director of the Information Office of the State Council, at a press conference.
Celebrations will be "merry, earnest, pragmatic and economical," he said.
The country is already preparing for the celebrations, which will include a grand conference, he said.
Details of the celebrations will be revealed at an "appropriate" date, he added.
