A seminar was held here Tuesday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Sun Qimeng, China's renowned educator and social activist.
Sun Qimeng, born in 1911 and died in March last year, was known for his contribution to the founding and development of the China National Democratic Construction Association.
Sun also served as the vice chairman of the 7th and 8th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC).
Wang Zhaoguo, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, spoke highly of Sun's devotion to the country, and appealed to the Chinese people to learn from his hardworking spirits, righteous morality and loyalty to the country.
Wang called on people from all ethnic groups to inherit and promote Sun's ideology and spirits and make contributions to the country's reform and development ahead of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.
