BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- A senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has called upon Party members in all departments under the CPC Central Committee to take concrete measures to defend the purity of the Party spirit.
Ling Jihua, a member of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a recent work conference on Party affairs within such departments.
The notion of "Party purity," which highlights "serving the people," reemerged as a hot word after Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a related keynote speech at a plenary session of the Party's anti-corruption body last Monday.
"Only by continuously maintaining its purity can the ruling Communist Party increase its prestige among the people and win the people's support and trust so as to solidify its base of governance and the prosperity of the country," Hu said at the session.
Moreover, Hu called on Party members to continuously carry forward the Party's fine style of work.
Ling Jihua's speech focused on the work of Party officials and organizations within those departments.
"Keeping Party purity" should serve as a key objective in promoting every aspect of daily work, Ling said.
Ling also urged Party members to stay closely connected to the people.
