Chinese vice-premier arrives in Botswana after talks with Guinean President
Chinese vice-premier Huang Ju arrived in Botswana's capital Gaborone Saturday for a two-day visit to the southern African country.
He said in a written statement that he expects to push forward bilateral relations through meetings with the leadership of the country.
"The two countries have witnessed remarkable progress in political, economic, educational, cultural and public health cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations 30 years ago," Huang said.
Huang was here after an official visit to Guinea.
In the western African nation, Huang met its President Lansana Conte late Friday. During the meeting Conte said he is grateful for the high-profile Chinese government delegation headed by Huang to expand bilateral cooperation and exchanges.
Both countries are committed to economic development and share many common views on a variety of issues, and Guinea is willing to further expand bilateral engagement and push forward continued development of Guinea and Africa's relations with China, the president said.
On the issue of Taiwan, President Conte reiterated that Guinea has been consistent in adhering the "one China" policy, which will never change.
The four-nation tour will also bring Huang to Madagascar. His first stop was Tunisia, where he attended the World Summit on the Information Society.
