Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong on Friday said the Chinese government attaches importance to Sino-Chadian relations and is willing to work with Chad to strengthen political mutual trust, friendship and cooperation.
In a meeting with Adoum Younousmi,Chad's minister of State and the Infrastructures, Zeng spoke highly of the rapid restoration and development of bilateral ties since resumption of diplomatic relations.
The resumption of bilateral diplomatic ties is an inevitable trend and conforms to common interests as the two nations are both developing countries, Zeng said.
China and Chad resumed diplomatic ties in August of this year after a suspension of nine years.
Younousmi said Chad will stick to the one-China policy.
Chad is willing to learn from China's development and promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation to benefit people of both countries, Younousmi said.
On the upcoming China-Africa cooperation forum, Zeng said the forum was an important mechanism in pushing ahead bilateral friendship and cooperation.
"China will make joint efforts with African nations to ensure the success of the Beijing summit," Zeng added.
Younousmi led a Chad delegation to China at the invitation of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The delegation comprises senior officials of the Chad government including the minister of foreign affairs, minister of defense and minister of finance.
China and Chad established formal diplomatic relations in 1972 but China severed the ties in 1997 when Chad "resumed" its ties with the Taiwan authorities.
