China's top legislator meets Latvian parliament chairwoman
China's top legislator Wu Bangguo said Friday in Beijing that China highly values relations with Latvia and hopes to deepen cooperation with Latvia to realize common development between the two countries.

In his meeting with Latvian Parliament chairwoman Ingrida Udre, Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said "China will work together with Latvia to enhance political exchanges and deepen cooperation to benefit the two peoples."

Wu highlighted the parliamentary exchanges between the two countries, saying the two parliaments should continue to increase exchanges and learn from each other on legislation.

Expressing her appreciation of the constructive role China has played in international affairs, Udre said she is convinced her China tour will not only help promote parliamentary exchanges, but also provide more opportunities for the cooperation between the two countries in such areas as politics, trade, technology and culture.

Udre reiterated that Latvia will adhere to the one-China policy.
