Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), has asked CPPCC organizations at various levels to play an active role in building a harmonious society in China. During his six-day inspection tour to central China's Hunan Province that ended Tuesday, Jia exchanged views with the local people in factories, schools, communities and towns, and praised the province's achievements in economic and social development. Jia, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, underlined problems facing agriculture, rural areas and farmers. He urged the local governments to fully implement the central policies to boost the development in rural areas. He also visited several local prestigious companies and called for more large state-owned companies to develop their own brands with intellectual property rights and foster strong competitive capacities in the international markets. Jia asked CPPCC organizations at various levels and united front work departments in Hunan to give play to their advantages for the country's undertaking of building a harmonious society.
